We're About Independent Grocer Success
We help independent grocers extend the trusted, personal relationships they've built in their communities into modern digital experiences — with technology that's easy to use, cost-effective, and built from the ground up with the same hometown values our retailers live by every day.
Our Mission
ShopHero's proprietary Retail Success Platform™ powers online and brick-and-mortar commerce for grocers of all sizes across the United States. We enrich and personalize the relationships between retailers and their shoppers through cohesive, modern in-store, online, and mobile experiences.
We're leveling the playing field for independent grocers by giving them access to enterprise-grade technology — from ecommerce and pricing to customer engagement, kitchen operations, and analytics — without the complexity or cost. By handling the heavy lifting, we make powerful retail capabilities simple and affordable for stores of every size.
Headquartered in Provo, Utah, our team combines deep technical expertise with a genuine passion for empowering independent retailers. We're proud to call this vibrant tech hub home, where innovation meets community values much like the independent grocers we serve.

The ShopHero Story
Built from the ground up alongside the retailers we serve.
It Started with a Problem Worth Solving
We watched independent grocers — the backbone of our own communities — fall behind as national chains poured millions into digital experiences. Customers expected online ordering, personalized offers, and seamless checkout, but the technology to deliver those experiences was priced and built for enterprises with dedicated IT teams and seven-figure budgets. The family-owned store in our neighborhood was left to compete with outdated tools or none at all.
We knew it didn't have to be that way. Independent grocers had something the big chains couldn't replicate: deep roots in their communities, personal relationships with their customers, and a genuine commitment to the people they serve. What they needed was technology that extended those strengths into the digital world — without the complexity or cost. So we set out to build it.
Built Alongside Real Retailers
We didn't build ShopHero in a lab. We built it in the aisles, behind the counter, and on the loading dock — working hand-in-hand with the grocers who would use it every day. We sat in on staff meetings, hand-picked and delivered over a thousand orders ourselves, and learned what mattered most when a store owner's reputation was on the line. Every feature we shipped was tested in the real world before it ever reached a second customer.
That first handful of stores shaped everything: the way our platform works, the way we support our customers, and the way we think about the problems worth solving. We earned trust by showing up, listening, and delivering — and growth came through results and word of mouth, one store at a time.
What started with a handful of stores in a few communities steadily grew into hundreds of retailers across the United States and Canada. Each new partnership reinforced what we already believed: when you give independent grocers the right tools and stand behind them, they don't just compete — they thrive.
Meeting the Moment That Mattered Most
When COVID-19 brought lockdowns to cities across the country, our retailers didn't hesitate — and neither did we. The infrastructure was already in place. Stores that had partnered with ShopHero were able to pivot overnight, turning their online ordering platforms into lifelines for the communities that depended on them. In some metros, retailers fulfilled grocery orders around the clock, seven days a week, making sure no one — especially the most vulnerable — went without.
For our team, it was one of the most fulfilling chapters in ShopHero's history. We weren't scrambling to build something new; we were watching the tools we'd built alongside our retailers do exactly what they were meant to do — serve people when it counted most. It reinforced everything we believed about the role independent grocers play in their communities and the kind of technology they deserve to have behind them.
The pandemic also proved something we'd long suspected: the grocers who had invested in modern technology before the crisis weren't just surviving — they were leading. They were the ones their neighbors turned to, the ones keeping shelves stocked and orders moving while larger operations stumbled. It was a defining moment for our industry and for ShopHero, and it deepened our resolve to make sure every independent grocer has the tools to serve their community — in good times and in hard ones.
A Strategic Investment in Growth
Dot Foods, the largest food industry redistributor in North America, made a significant investment in ShopHero — a strong validation of our platform and our mission. By then we were supporting hundreds of retailers with locally-branded online shopping experiences across the U.S. and Canada, and Dot saw what we saw: that independent grocers deserved innovative technology to compete in an evolving, more digital retail environment.
The partnership gave us the resources to expand our team, accelerate product development, and move faster with better products and greater levels of service and support than ever before. Dot stood fully behind our mission to help independent grocers strengthen their relationships with their shoppers and communities — and with their backing, we were well positioned to make ShopHero an even stronger, bigger player in the market.
From One Service to a Complete Platform
What began as an online ordering solution grew into something much bigger. As our retailers asked for more — pricing tools, customer engagement, restaurant POS, analytics — we kept building. Every new capability started the same way: a store owner describing a challenge, and our team figuring out how to solve it. We never built features to check a box; we built them because the people we serve needed them to run their businesses better.
Today, the ShopHero Retail Success Platform spans eleven specialized services that work together to power every aspect of modern retail — from product and pricing management to loyalty programs, kitchen operations, and real-time analytics. Each one was born from a real need we heard from the people we serve, and each one is designed to work seamlessly alongside the others.
Homegrown Innovation at Industry Scale
In 2025, ShopHero and DUMAC formed a strategic partnership — combining our scrappy, customer-first innovation with over 70 years of proven retail technology deployment. DUMAC's deep roots in the grocery industry, established network of retailer relationships, and proven track record of implementing and supporting technology at scale made it a natural fit for where both companies were headed.
The culture hasn't changed: we're still a hands-on team that picks up the phone, shows up to trade shows, and treats every retailer's success as our own. Together, we bring more firepower to deliver on that promise — a larger combined team, broader expertise, and the shared commitment of two companies dedicated to the independent grocer.
